Shepherds Lane boasts the largest outdoor garden in the vicinity. This abundance of space offers endless opportunities for learning through play, in support of children's natural curiosity to explore the world around them. Facilities in the garden include a large sand pit, growing/digging areas,  role-play corner, chalk-boards, canopy, and bike/wheeled toy area. We also have a separate baby garden, for our little explorers to safely enjoy!  We also have The Break offering Out of School care for your children when they leave Daybreak and go to school.

Our Rooms

Babies 0-2 years

We encourage settling in sessions as we feel this helps to build a bond between us and your child and gives you as a parent/carer a chance to meet and get to know the staff members. We have space for 11 babies per day in our baby unit. It  consists of 2 interconnecting playrooms, a separate sleep room and private nappy changing area. The rooms are designed to offer a range of play and sensory experiences, with a cosy 'home from home' atmosphere.

Toddlers 2-3 years

All toddlers are unique developing and growing at their own rate. To account for this when moving from the baby room to the toddler room each child has a series of individually tailored taster sessions helping to make their transition a fun and stress free experience. With space for up to 18 children, the toddler room provides a bright and spacious environment with a range of activities that support both child-initiated play and adult-led exploration exercises. The room layout comprises designated areas where children are encouraged to become immersed in sensory, creative and tactile activities. All resources and equipment is child safe and are readily accessible to your child.

The toddler room has its own adjoining bathroom with facilities for nappy changing, potty training and toileting. This proximity to the main toddler room is useful to our staff as they assist your child in his /her toilet training.

Pre-school 3-5 years

Our Pre-School unit is situated in a separate building adjacent to the baby and toddler building. The pre-school unit is a large spacious facility and has spaces for up to 30 children.

The Pre-School main playroom is divided into designated areas for learning and play activities. These include areas for construction, role-play, small world, science, mathematics, ICT and also contains a numeracy and literacy quiet room where children can access books, puzzles and games computers that support independent learning through play.

At Pre-School level, we aim to develop independent learning, inquiring and listening skills as well as communication and social skills. These are essential precursors that lead to a happy and confident child as they make their transition to primary school.
